'Outlander' season 3: Caitriona Balfe jokes about dragging out the reunion
Caitriona Balfe joked about dragging out the reunion of Jamie and Claire in “Outlander” season 3, in a recent interview. A video of her acceptance speech at the Oscar Wilde Awards has also surfaced online.
In an online interview posted on YouTube, which Balfe (Claire) appears to have done from her home, the actress was jokingly asked to reveal everything about the upcoming season. Balfe offered to start reading from the stack of scripts she had in her room. On a more serious note she pointed out that she would be fired for revealing anything major about the show. The host of the interview said that the producers couldn’t afford to lose her because they can’t do the show without her.
On the question of whether or not there will be a reunion of Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire this year, Balfe said there isn’t one. She added that they decided to draw it out this year, so “Outlander” season 3 can be about the separate lives of the two main characters, something that would send a chill down the spines of the fans.
However, the fans who have been following the news about the show regularly know that there is a reunion scene, and it has already been filmed. But, Balfe joked with the interview hosts about making the fans wait for two seasons before the reunion scene.
The first few episodes of the next season will be about the separate storylines. Heughan and Balfe filmed there scenes for perhaps the first time for the show. The actress said that she has no idea what her fellow cast member was doing.
For her part, Balfe said that the fans will see her character in Boston with her first husband and daughter. There will be time shifts in this storyline, so the viewers will see 1940s, 50s and the 60s on the show. The actress teased that there will be some twists and turns for the character, as she manages the different relationships in her life.
Meanwhile, a video of Balfe’s acceptance speech at the Oscar Wilde Awards has been posted on YouTube. She spoke about being cast in “Super 8,” and how that film opened up opportunities for her.
Balfe will be soon head to South Africa to film the remaining part of “Outlander” season 3. At the time of the interview the actress had still not read the remaining scripts, or seen the new sets.
