'Outlander' Season 3 production update: Sam Heughan completes first day and wants some sleep
Being back to film “Outlander” Season 3 is a lot of hard work. After finishing filming on the first day Sam Heughan wanted just one thing – to get some sleep. The actor teased what it was like on the production set and exchanged a few words with Graham McTavish.
Heughan (Jamie Fraser) has begun filming his scenes. The actor wrote on his Twitter page that it was good to be back on the set, but after a long day’s work he wanted to get some sleep. The actor did not reveal the filming location of the first day.
Graham McTavish (Dougal MacKenzie) was quick to respond to Heughan’s post. “Sleep while you can nephew,” McTavish joked. While the cast members return to film their scenes, McTavish took a break and went on a drive in a Jaguar. The actor apparently went to a beach.

Heughan wanted to know if McTavish got any sand in that “lovely car. “Ooops,” McTavish wrote in response.
It is not clear if Caitriona Balfe (Claire) also began filming her scenes for “Outlander” Season 3. Her character and Jamie were not together the last time the viewers saw them. The two characters are expected to stay apart for a while when the show returns, before a grand reunion.
The next season of the show is based on the book “Voyager” by Diana Gabaldon. The show is expected to begin with Claire’s choice of whether she should go back in time and reunite with Jamie or stay and reconnect with her daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton).
As far as Jamie is concerned, “Outlander” Season 3 is expected to show the events after the Battle of Culloden. While some of the familiar characters are expected to die in the next season, new characters will be introduced as Jamie and Claire travel to the Caribbean.
