'Outlander' season 3: Sam Heughan does wheelie on set; New pictures and a video from the set
The cast and crew took over the Instagram page of the show for one day, to give the fans a sneak peek at what they are all up to on the sets of “Outlander” season 3. The pictures tease the ship that is being used in South Africa, and some behind-the-scenes pictures of cast members, including Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, having fun.
Co-executive Producer Maril Davis, who is also in Cape Town, South Africa, made the announcement in a video that was posted online [see below]. The Droughtlander may be a long one this year, but the team behind the show is doing everything they can to help the fans through the wait, by sharing pictures and videos from the set.
The first picture is that of Heughan (Jamie Fraser) dressed in his new costume, and doing a wheelie on a bicycle. The post called this “fit work.” Balfe (Claire) can be seen in the next picture, along with her fellow cast member. There are a lot of green screens in the background that are used to digitally add the scenery during the post production phase.
New cast members in “Outlander” season 3, César Domboy (adult Fergus) and Lauren Lyle (Marsali), can also be seen in one of the pictures from the set. The costumes of the actors are not visible in the picture posted online.
Some of the other pictures that were posted online by the cast and crew are of the set pieces on the ship and the makeup room. Heughan and Balfe have been filming on the ship for quite a while now, suggesting that the scenes from the ship will be an important part of the story in the adaptation.
The next season is based on the third book in the series titled “Voyager.” As the name suggests the main characters go on a journey to the Caribbean this year, after they reunite. Author Diana Gabaldon also took some time out from her busy writing schedule to visit the set in South Africa to see how the filming is progressing.
“Outlander” season 3 is set to premiere in September. The show can be watched on Foxtel Soho network in Australia. The show will pickup from right where the story left off last year. So, the Battle of Culloden is featured in the very first episode. For Claire, the story begins in Boston, after she arrives with her husband Frank (Tobias Menzies) from Scotland.
