'Outlander' Season 3: Young Jamie cast; Sam Heughan teases photo
Fans will get to see “Young Jamie” in “Outlander” Season 3. Another actor has been cast to play this role. Meanwhile, Sam Heughan has teased a behind the scenes picture from the production set of the show.
[Spoiler alert]
The Young Jamie character is not the younger version of Sam Heughan’s (Jamie Fraser) character on the show. Although the fans will get to see an older version of the Scottish warrior, just as there was an older Claire (Caitriona Balfe) in the previous season.
The new character is the son of Jenny Fraser (Laura Donnelly) and Ian Murray (Steven Cree). The boy was named after his uncle Jamie, and he is set to become the heir to the Lallybroch estate.
Conor McCarry has been cast to play the new role, Daily Record reports. The actor has been a part of “Anna Karenina,” Battleship” and “The Night Manager” in the past.
“Outlander” Season 3 is based on Diana Gabaldon’s book “Voyager.” The report notes that if the TV series were to follow the books then the fans could see an “adventurous scene” of Young Jamie and Young Ian, which will change the life of the latter and the life of his family forever.
McCarry’s character was previously seen as a young boy at Lallybroch. When Jamie discovered that the boy was named after him he was furious, mistakenly believing him to be the bastard child of Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies). He calmed down after learning that he was the son of Ian.
Meanwhile, Heughan has shared a behind the scenes picture from the production set of “Outlander” Season 3. The picture is of a sunrise in Scotland. The actor described the morning as being chilly, but beautiful. Filming of the first four episodes of the new season has already been completed and the cast and crew are now working on the next two episodes.
