'Outlander' star Sam Heughan celebrates birthday; Alpha Male Madness

Sam Heughan celebrated his birthday, and got wishes from friends and colleagues. The actor shared a new picture of him working out, for the eager fans who are waiting for the next season of the popular Starz show. Meanwhile, production of the TV series continues in South Africa.

It is not clear if Heughan (Jamie) got a day off from filming or if he spent the day working on the set again. Co-executive Producer Maril Davis and fellow cast member Caitriona Balfe (Claire) were among the friends of the actor who wished him online.

Balfe shared a picture of a rainbow while wishing Heughan a happy birthday. She called it a good omen for the year ahead. She is currently with the actor in Cape Town, filming the next season of the show.

In a post on his Instagram page, Heughan thanked everyone for the birthday wishes, and said that he felt thankful. He also added that he is looking forward to the year ahead.

Heughan is off to a great start already, as he is on track to win the Alpha Male Madness by E! News. If he wins it; this will the third year in a row for the actor. He has already reached the final round this year, and is up against “The 100” star Bob Morley (Bellamy Blake), who threatens to steal the title.

Voting has already closed, and the results are yet to be announced. However, Heughan expressed confidence in winning the title again this year, which is evident by his post on the subject. The voting may have been especially fierce this time. The passionate and active fan base of the actor did not want to disappoint the star on his birthday.

For eager fans who want to see Heughan in another event will get that chance in August, when he will attend the Highlanders 2 event with his fellow cast member Balfe. The event will take place between 25 and 27, and will be held at the Norbreck Castle Hotel, Blackpool, in the UK. All the Gold Tickets for this event have sold out, but some of the regular tickets are still available.

Meanwhile, Co-executive Producer Matthew B. Roberts shared new pictures from Cape Town. He teased another picture of the ship being used for “Outlander” season 3. The second picture is that of a skywalk that he saw on the way to work. The last picture is a shot at the beach, where filming may be taking place at the moment.
