'Outlander' TV series: Ronald D. Moore responds to Golden Globe nomination and Sam Heughan snub
The “Outlander” TV series and cast members Caitriona Balfe and Tobias Menzies have won nominations at the Golden Globes. In recent interviews, Executive Producer Ronald D. Moore talked about what it feels like to be nominated and also talked about the Sam Heughan snub at the awards.
Speaking to TV Line, Moore said that it was a “good morning” and a “surprising morning,” after he found out about the Golden Globes nomination. The producers said that he was both surprised and “very honoured” to be nominated.
The producer said that it was a “big shot in the arm” for the whole team, who are currently filming scenes “in the dark and cold” sets in Scotland. Although the two main cast members and the show have been nominated, the producer admitted that not finding Heughan’s name in the list is “disappointing.”
“ We always think of them as the Big 3 on the show. He’s a huge part of our success, so that is disappointing. He absolutely deserved to be recognized, as well,” the executive producer said.
In an interview with EOnline, the producer pointed out that “Outlander” TV series and the cast members had to compete with “a lot of content out there.” Moore emphasised that Heughan “absolutely deserves” to be included in the list of the nominees.
Giving the fans a brief production update, Moore said that the show “looks gorgeous and amazing.” He teased that the story this time around is “very different” and he is “really excited” about the next season.
Although many of the major new characters in “Outlander” Season 2 have already been cast and some of the episodes have also been filmed, one major casting announcement that is yet to be made is of a character called Brianna. The executive producer said that it is a “tough part to cast” and hence was taking some time. He is, however, hopeful about making an announcement about this soon.
