Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, the cast members of the “Outlander” TV series, shared some of their insights about the show in a recent interview. They spoke about how graphic scenes in the show take a long time to film and talked about the “mystery highlander” that fans saw in the very first episode of the series.

“Outlander” TV series has multiple love making scenes and some action sequences. Talking to OutlanderTVNews, Caitriona said that the love making scenes take longer to film, compared to the fight scenes. The actress plays the role of the protagonist Claire in the TV series. Sam, felt that “any kind of graphic scene” took the same amount of time to film.

The two cast members were then asked about the Highlander who was seen standing outside Claire’s window, but vanished right before Frank’s eyes. “Do you think the mystery Highlander Frank saw in the beginning was the ghost of Jamie”? the cast members were asked. Sam Heughan apparently talked about it with author Diana Gabaldon of the book series, on which the TV series is based. However, Caitriona complained that Sam isn't sharing the discussion details with her.

“Outlander” will be coming to the viewers in the UK for the first time this week via Amazon Prime. The cast members were asked whether they had any “trepidation” about the show finally being seen by the fans in the UK, particularly since the show is mostly based in Scotland.

Caitriona said that she was “really excited” about the fans in the UK being able to watch the show. She did however concede that people in the UK may watch the show a little differently than the viewers in the U.S. “In America, you are one step removed from knowing the Scottish culture so intimately and I think people in Scotland are going to see how authentic we are and maybe judge us a little on that,” she said.

The actress was hopeful that the viewers in the UK will appreciate how the producers have tried to “incorporate the craftsmanship that exists in Scotland.” Sam Heughan said later that his character, Jamie Fraser, was about bringing the “authentic” culture of Scotland to the audience “probably for the first time on TV.”
