Overwatch heroes for beginners, high difficulty but easy
Surprisingly beginner-friendly heroes
Overwatch is Blizzard’s newest game that was released last May. Overwatch is categorised as a Hero Team Shooter. Players can pick from a roster of 22 heroes and play in a team of six players against another team of six. Some heroes are surprisingly beginner friendly despite receiving two or three out of three difficulty stars by Blizzard.
Each hero has its own unique characteristics and abilities that fill in a role: tank, offence, defence and support. The large hero pool can be daunting as each hero plays and feels differently.
Heroes rated as 1/3 stars difficulty:
Soldier: 76
Soldier: 76 is the hero especially designed for new Overwatch players. The hero plays and feels like play characters from other FPS (first person shooter) games. Soldier: 76 is an offence hero that uses a heavy pulse rifle for his main weapon.
His RMB (right mouse button) ability is Helix Rockets, which shoot out rockets from his rifle. The ability works like a grenade launcher. His Biotic Field ability enables him to heal himself and his allies, making him the only offence hero to do so.
His ultimate enables Soldier: 76 to automatically lock on to enemies near the crosshair. This ability basically gives yourself aimbot for a few seconds.
Reaper
Reaper is a hero for players that have difficulty in aiming. Reaper wields two shotguns for his main weapon. The shotguns do a lot of damage medium ranged and the splash can make up for the lack of aim. He has the ability to heal himself by obtaining orbs that enemy heroes drop upon death.
He has a 250 health, which makes him rather durable. His shift ability makes him invulnerable and phase through enemies but unable to attack. This ability acts like a panic button for newer players for a lot of situations.
Reapers ultimate is straight forward. Pressing Q activates Death Blossom in which he spins around and damages all the enemies around him. Spin to win.
Bastion
Bastion is a great hero to pick up to learn about positioning yourself in Overwatch. Bastion will be the bane of your existence as you play Overwatch. Luckily, you can pick him up and become the bane of someone else’s existence.
Bastion is a hero that can turn himself into an immobile turret. As a turret, Bastion can output a lot of damage in a very short time and have a large ammo clip. Bastion can also heal himself on top of a large health and shield pool. His ultimate turns him into a tank giving him mobility and splash damage.
Heroes rated as 2/3 stars difficulty:
D.Va
D.Va rides a mech unit into battle and technically has two HP pools. The mech effectively has 500 health (100 health and 400 armour) and D.Va herself has 150. She has the ability to shield herself and the only way to kill D.Va is to kill her outside her mech.
Her main weapons, which are easy to aim and requires no reload, and her large health pool make her very beginner friendly. The only “advanced” thing about her kit is her mech going on cooldown after being destroyed. Just run and hide if it does.
Winston
A lot of players and guides will claim that Reinhardt is the more beginner-friendly hero. However, Reinhardt requires you to either put up your shield or attack someone in melee range. Most players can kite and avoid Reinhardt’s melee attacks, punishing you for putting down your shield.
Winston, on the other hand, can put up a shield for the entire team and attack with a ranged weapon that requires little aiming. His main weapon is the Tesla Cannon, which has a short range but still better than the former’s melee attack.
His ultimate gives him plus 500 health but turns his main weapon into melee attacks.

Zarya
Zarya is another tank hero and widely regarded as a difficult hero to play in the community. Her primary weapon can either shoot a laser or pulse bombs that require some aiming to hit. However, she has 200 health and 200 armour making her very survivable.
She has an ability to shield herself for another 200 damage and another ability to shield a teammate for the same amount. This makes her a surprisingly good hero for beginners wanting to learn supporting.
Her tankiness is important as support heroes are usually aimed first in matches, and most support heroes have low health. Despite the initial challenge, her laser attack is easy to handle after a few attempts. Just make sure to avoid the secondary attack.
