Overwatch patch is live for PC, patch notes reveal nerfs and Ana’s major buff
Blizzard has released a new patch for “Overwatch.” The patch is meant to bring some notable changes to two heroes.
The first hero is Ana whose Bionic Rifle receives quite a big boost. The rate of fire has been increased by 20 percent, while its magazine size is also increased from eight to 10.
“While Ana has bene very well received, she was showing to be a little bit weaker overall. In addition to helping her feel better to play, these changes should also increase her healing and damage output,” said the developer in the Battle.net forum.
McCree receives a mix of increases and decreases, though overall, the change has seen the character nerfed for the most part. The Peacemaker has a decreased damage falloff with the amount kept unchanged. Blizzard assured fans that this lets McCree’s effective range to be higher than how it was at launch. Recovery time for the Flashbang has also been decreased by half a minute.
The patch also fixes Ana’s Sleep Dart. Recovery time for damage will now be 0.5 seconds instead of an instant recovery.
While the patch is only available for PC at the moment, Blizzard has reassured fans that it will come to the PS4 and Xbox One editions later on in a bigger patch.
While some have deemed Ana to be an overall weak character—hence her buff—Polygon points out that one of her powers are worth taking notice of. In fact, some fans are supposedly putting her as one of their favourite characters in “Overwatch.”
Seen in the video above, Ana’s sleep dartfunction is actually a deadly one. All that a team needs is a number of Anas in the team to keep shooting darts against a player. If this happens, then they can easily make the player inactive and get kicked out of the game.
In the video, all it took were three Ana players to put the opponent to sleep and then get kicked out of the match. This is due to the toss out mechanic of “Overwatch.” This is a nifty strategy that Blizzard has yet to fix. On the upside, it does give the Ana character another boost. But some may call this toeing the line of a cheat-glitch.
