Panasonic announced that its DMC-CM1 hybrid device which combines the digital camera and a mobile phone will be available in Australia from mid-July at a price tag of AUD$1,399, according to reports.

According to Phonearena.com, the Lumix DMC-CM1 does not sport a slender look like any latest smartphone but it is definitely stylish and will generate great images and videos. As a camera, it is very handy but as a phone, it is slightly at a heavier side.

The hybrid device sports the one-inch, 20 MP sensor that is capable of shooting 4K video. Under the hood is the quad-core, 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 along with a 2 GB RAM and 2,600mAh battery. At the software front, the CM1 is equipped with a ‘4K Photo’ app that will allow users to capture stills from their 4K clips and besides that, the camera cum smartphone gets a ‘4K Pre-Burst’ app that has the ability to capture images of fast moving objects. The hybrid device gets a 16 GB storage and a microSD slot. The Lumix CM1 gets a 4.7-inch screen and runs at 1080p, reports Phonearena.com.

According to a report on Tech Times, the CM1 has got 4G LTE and Wi-Fi capabilities. It ships with Android 4.4 KitKat, however, the device can upgrade its operating system to Android 5.0 Lollipop, reports Tech Times.

Panasonic is yet to share information on which retailers will carry the Lumix CM1, reports Cyber Shack. The company had released the DMC-CM1 in US markets last month at a price tag of $999.99, reported Tech Times.

The concept of creating a hybrid by combining a smartphone with a camera has been tried earlier by Samsung. Panasonic had also come up with the Lumix 101P earlier, which was seen as the company’s first efforts to cement the gap between the traditional camera and an Android smartphone, as per the Phonearena.com report.
