Patrick Dempsey or Dr. Derek Shepherd from the ever popular "Grey’s Anatomy" is going to focus on his racing career. Dempsey is already a racing pro with a podium finish at the IMSA Tudor Series GT race at Virginia International Raceway. He would take part in the French Endurance Classic and also fly to Dubai to take part in the Porsche event.

The "Grey’s Anatomy" star is considered one of the sexiest men on the planet and is well-known across the world for his role as Dr. Derek Shepherd. He bid adieu to the series to focus full time on racing and has few offers to consider on the screen. However, it would be the race track that would be the focus. In a recent interview, Dempsey said (via Telegraph), “I would love to do something else like a producer or commit for a show that is 10 to 12 episodes.” Dempsey also felt that he feared of being typecast as the sexy lifesaving doctor for his entire life. It was difficult for people to see him as anything different.

Dempsey, born in Maine, was a champion ski racer with Olympic dreams. But acting intervened and he has ruled the screen with his million-watt smile and dreamy looks. He was hooked to racing when his ex-wife Jillian Fink bought him a three-day driving experience. Ironically he and his wife are divorced because his obsession with racing. Dempsey with his team Dempsey Proton Racing is supported by Porsche and he would be at the wheel of a Porsche 911 RSR at the French endurance Championship. Bernhard Maier, Porsche AG Board member told Autosport Magazine that, "Porsche is pleased to support Patrick Dempsey and his team."

Dempsey, a father of two, feels that he could manage both acting and car racing. His idols, Paul Newman and Steve McQueen were passionate racers. Today Dempsey wears the Tag Heuer reminiscent of Steve McQueen and has set his sight for higher racing glory. The endurance championship has always been sidelined by the F1 racing circuit but with Patrick Dempsey on the wheels more fans would tune in for the event.
