‘Peaky Blinders’ season 4: Release date, cast, filming and other facts to know

Good news for “Peaky Blinders” fans — the British television crime drama has been confirmed for a fourth season. While filming of the next batch of episodes has been scheduled for March, the show’s host BBC recently announced a fifth season too.

Irish actor Cillian Murphy, playing lead Tommy Shelby in the BBC crime drama, previously revealed that the show’s production is set to take off on March. Murphy has been nominated Best Drama Performance for the National Television Awards for “Peaky Blinders.” He also has a Best Leading Actor in a Drama Series nomination for IFTA Film and Television Awards for his role.

Release Date

The 1920s British gangster drama has gained a solid fan following since the show kicked off in September 2013. Although the premiere date for “Peaky Blinders” season 4 hasn’t been released, a late 2017 debut however can be anticipated. With previous season premiere in September and October, an autumn 2017 release also seems likely.

Cast

In terms of “Peaky Blinders” season 4 cast, Cillian Murphy will return as Tommy Shelby. According to UK publication OK!, other cast members could include Helen McCrory (as Polly Gray), Paul Anderson (Arthur) and Joe Cole (John Selby) to name a few. The same hasn’t been confirmed yet, however. Also, actor Tom Hardy could return as the character Alfie Solomons.

Filming

“Peaky Blinders” season 4 cast and crew are expected to return to the Black Country Living Museum to start filming for the series’ next instalment. It has been reported that the show’s first three seasons were shot there. Also, a majority of the filming was done along the museum’s canals to give the show a genuine-looking post-World War I makeover.

The Black Country Living Museum had previously stated in their website that the “Production staff were on hand for three days prior to filming to alter the usual layout with unique props and special effects.”

“Peaky Blinders” creator-writer Steven Knight said: “We are trying to film as much here as we possibly can. It's our world and I think of this as our Peaky home,” according to the Week.

Meanwhile, the show is currently calling for young Birmingham-born boxers within the age group of 18-25 for a “pivotal role” in the next series of “Peaky Blinders.” Posters have gone up around the city, which read: “Male boxers aged 18-25 years old from the West Midlands for a pivotal role in the new series which starts filming in the spring. Must be a confident boxer and physically fit.”
