‘Penny Dreadful’ Season 2 Spoilers: New Posters Released, Timothy Dalton In Pain
With the show’s Season 2 premiere closing in, “Penny Dreadful” finally released two of the shows new posters featuring Sir Malcom, played by Timothy Dalton, and his mysterious ally Sembene, played by Danny Sapani. Looking distraught and in pain, Dalton’s character lost his daughter at the end of Season 1 as he saved Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) from her demonic possession.
Sir Malcolm Murray and Sembene go way back when he served as Murray’s sentry and confidant. An African man with ritual face scarring, Sembene has an air of mystery about him and only speaks in short sentences unless he needs to say something important. His heroic efforts proved to be invaluable to Sir Malcolm as he helped him in his personal quest. Although the exact of origin of their friendship is still unclear, these two characters are about to take a journey together.
The “Penny Dreadful” promotional posters features two of the show’s characters looking skyward with pain and anguish in their eyes. The upcoming season is set to have 10 episodes that would unlock more secrets as the whole crew faces a new evil played by Helen McCrory (Madam Kali).
“This season, Vanessa and Ethan (Josh Hartnett) form a deeper bond as the group, including Sir Malcolm, Dr. Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway), and Sembene, unite to banish the evil forces that threaten to destroy them,” according to “Penny Dreadful” Season 2 synopsis. “Helen McCrory returns as Evelyn Poole (a.k.a. Madame Kali), the seductive spiritualist who will pose a unique threat to our protagonists this season.”
Featuring a heavy dose of Madam Kali, who made her debut last season as Evelyn Poole, Season 2 will unite everyone to fight a powerful force of evil. Simon Russell Beale is also back for the upcoming season as an eccentric Egyptologist Ferdinand Lyle.
Showtime’s “Penny Dreadful” Season 2 returns to the small screen on May 3 at 10 p.m. ET/PT with creepier imagery than before. Additional guest stars include Sarah Green as Poole’s daughter Hecate, Johnny Beauchamp as a man with singular past and Douglas Hodge as a Scotland Yard investigator.
