'Person of Interest' season 5 updates: JJ Abrams assures there will be no unresolved issues in the series finale; Root and Sameen to get 'closer'
Although Season 5 of “Person of Interest” was confirmed to be the last, executive producer J.J. Abrams guaranteed fans that there will be proper closure in the season finale. In the meantime, Root (Amy Acker) and Sameen Shaw (Sarah Shahi) will also get more intimate.
J.J. Abrams shared at the Television Critics Association press tour that he guesses that Season 5 will be the final season. He, however, regrets how the story could have progressed further if the show continued. He commended Jonathan Nolan and Greg Plageman for doing a wonderful job on “Person of Interest” and that he is certain that the 13 episodes in the next season will properly provide closure for all the characters.
“We don’t yet have a schedule, but they will see the light of day. People will get to see these episodes and I know the power of that story,” Abrams said.
He continued that he was grateful that the show lasted as long as it has, although he would have loved if it were to continue. There are also rumors that “Person of Interest” will be picked up by online streaming sites like Netflix or Hulu after it goes off air on CBS. Abrams said that it is a possibility, although it is not their focus in the meantime. The production finished in December 2015.
IGN notes Abrams in saying that their goal was to provide the proper series finale. He said that there may be adjustments depending on how the show performs when it launches, although the idea was that Season 5 would be the last.
Inquisitr writes that in “Person of Interest” plot rumors, Root and Shaw are expected to get closer in the next season. A Twitter user shared a clip showing an intense moment between the two characters, most likely from Season 5. Spoilers revealed that their relationship is expected to improve in the following episodes.
In the past, Root and Sameen had a special tie, although the show did not focus more on it. Finally, the two may enter into a romantic relationship.
