Peter Jackson Bringing Lucky Fans to New Zealand to Watch ‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’ Special Screening

Peter Jackson is bringing “Lord of the Rings” fans to New Zealand. The Kiwi filmmaker is holding a contest for the fans of his films from around the world for a chance to watch the first screening of “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.”

“Hi everyone!” the 52-year-old Academy Award winner wrote on his Facebook page. “As a ‘thank you’ for sharing in our Middle-earth journey through The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies, I would like to give you the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime trip to New Zealand to tour iconic film locations.

“Winning fans will visit my hometown of Wellington and watch the first official screening of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies with me.”

The contest, which officially launched on August 25, is open to anyone who is 18 years old and above from any countries around the world, except for a few excluded nations. To enter the contest and to read the rules, click its official Web site.

Winners will land in Auckland via Air New Zealand before they will embark on a private tour through the films’ iconic locations. They will also watch a private screening of the final instalment of “The Hobbit” trilogy with Jackson himself. The film’s premiere date hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Meanwhile, Jackson has told Empire Magazine that he sees the last “The Hobbit” film as a “psychological thriller.”

“This one has got more of a thriller feel to it,” he explained why the film has shorter running time than its predecessors. “I think of this third movie as a psychological thriller with action scenes interspersed in the middle of it. It has got a very tight narrative structure. Three-hour movies don’t tend to be thrillers.”

“The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” will hit theatres on December 12 in the UK, and on December 17 in the U.S.
