The year 2010's Sydney Peace Prize has been won by an Indian physicist and environmentalist Dr. Vandana Shiva.

Dr. Shiva has been portrayed as an anti-globalisation and eco-feminist author and campaigner.

A seed bank was started in India by Dr. Vandana Shiva to protect biodiversity and she has also campaigned in opposition to genetically modified foods.

The Director of Sydney Peace Foundation Professor Stuart Rees stated that Dr. Vandana Shiva is one of the most noteworthy environmental campaigners in the world and this year's prize winner will re-strengthen the global warming debate.

Professor Rees said that Dr. Shiva was the anti-globalization movement leader and the last book of hers 'soil not oil' reminds people that the immense majority of people in the developing countries are subsistence farmers who depend on the soil for their source of revenue.

Dr. Shiva pointed out the equality between the wellbeing of the environment and the wellbeing of the people living on it.

Dr. Shiva will be giving her annual lecture in Sydney this November.

Professor Rees also stated that Sydney would be lucky to have her because she is well-liked by most of the world's leaders who take global warming sombrely.
