‘Pitch Perfect 2’ Star Hailee Steinfeld: Collaboration With Taylor Swift ‘Maybe’ Possible
Hailee Steinfeld, who portrayed the role of Emily Junk, the freshman legacy Bella in “Pitch Perfect 2,” could release a collaborative single with “Bad Blood” singer Taylor Swift. The 18-year-old actress declined to give details, but she let out a “maybe” when asked.
“I’ve been working on music that will be coming in the next few months," Steinfeld told ET Online in a recent interview, noting that the recent months have been “crazy.” The same report mentioned Steinfeld responded with a shy “maybe” when asked about collaborating with Taylor Swift.
Steinfeld is The Trinity in Swift’s sci-fi themed and star-studded “Bad Blood” music video, which has quickly gone viral on the internet. Jessica Alba, Cara Delevingne, Cindy Crawford, Ellen Pompeo (“Grey’s Anatomy”) and Lena Dunham (“Girls”) are just some of the A-list cast members of the said viral video. It also features Kendrick Lamar. Two weeks after its release, the video has drawn over 100 million views. (Watch the video below.)
ET Online considers Steinfeld’s presence in the “Bad Blood” video a good sign for a possible collaboration in the future. The teenage singer-actress is expected to complete her first album with Republic Records this year.
Steinfeld’s “Pitch Perfect 2” character links well with her role in the 2013 film “Begin Again.” In this movie, she also played a musically inclined teenager (Violet, daughter of Mark Ruffalo’s character, music producer Dan Mulligan). It turns out her roles in these movies are only part of a prelude to her music career.
While she is busy with recording, Steinfeld is simultaneously promoting the movie “Barely Lethal” with her co-stars Samuel L. Jackson, Jessica Alba, Sophie Turner (“Game of Thrones”), Jaime King (“Hart of Dixie”) and Dove Cameron (“Liv and Maddie”).
“Barely Lethal” is about international assassin Megan Walsh (Steinfeld), a 16-year-old trainee who launches herself on a special mission to live a normal life, doing what the other kids her age do. This action-comedy was written by John D'Arco and directed by Kyle Newman.
