Ahead of a clarification from Panasonic that it is not yet stopping the production of its popular Plasma TV, the gadget topped CNET's list of seven tech products that should still exist.

Last week, Nikkei reported that the Japanese manufacturer would shutter its Plasma TV production unit within three years as part of its massive restructuring due to financial losses the past three years. Fueling further the report was Panasonic closing the past year its worst-performing businesses and laying off thousands of workers, including Kuro, its high-end retail outlets.

However, Panasonic said it would only stop the production of the Plasma TV, known for its superior image quality, as a last resort.

"We cannot dismiss the possibility, but we will try to avoid it," Panasonic President Kazuhiro Tsuga said in a statement.

The six other products on the list are:

1. Flip video camera - The gadget was manufactured by Pure Digital which Cisco purchased in 2009 for $590 million. However, after two years, competition from smartphones caused Cisco to stop production of this device even if it had larger storage capacities and higher resolution.

2. Logitech squeezebox - A fully featured music-streaming devices with wide file compatibility and support for most popular music-streaming services. Building a playlist is so easy because it seamlessly blends multiple home and online sources, although it could sometimes freeze up or lag. Priced at $999.99, the product is still available online but there is no guaranteed supported platform.

3. Samsung SPA900B projector - Known for its extremely accurate colour, superb black level and shadow detail performance, this projector adequately delivered large screen sizes compared to its competitors. It also features excellent lens, numerous picture-affecting options and sleek styling.

4. Palm Pre (WebOS) - Praised by users and tech experts for its well-integrated features and unparalleled multitasking capabilities, but was bumped off by more popular smartphone OS.

5. Logitech Harmony 900 remote control - Features sleek design, PC programmable, excellent button layout and includes Blu-ray-centric buttons, high-resolution LCD with touchscreen interface, touch-sensitive buttons, rechargeable lithium ion battery and is easy to set up.

6. Motorola RAZR Flip Phones - Known for its striking design, email support, Bluetooth, speakerphone and world phone support, it fell behind when smartphones took centre stage with their touchscreen and more advanced features.
