Pokemon burgers: Down N’ Out creates limited edition Pikachu, Bulbasaur and Charmander Pokeburgers
Pokemon Go trainers also need to eat, and that’s why Pokemon burgers are invented. Down N’ Out pop-up store in Sydney has released limited edition Pokeburgs -- Pikachu, Bulbasaur and Charmander -- and these are going out fast.
As elusive as virtual Pokemon, these burgers are also hard to catch. Down N’ Out only releases a limited number of Pokeburgs every day from 5 p.m., and it only allows one burger per customer.
These Pokeburgers, or Pokemon burgers, are $15 each, which is pretty standard price for a premium burger in Sydney CBD. They are available from Tuesday until Sep. 3 only.
There are three types of Pokeburgers, and each one has been designed to match the Pokemon’s look and personality, according to Ben Kagan, the creative director for Hashtag Burgers, the group that created Down N’ Out.
“Charmander is a bit spicy and has orange lava cheese,” he told CNBC. Bulbasaur burger, he explained, has a similar flavour to McDonald’s Big Mac. The green burger has plenty of green veggies, including lettuce, pickles and a broccoli crown on top.
Kagan said his team went a “bit silly” in creating Pikachu burger. A classic burger with a twist, the Pokeburger is stuffed with Tiger Fries, or fries covered in cheese, onions and Thousand Island-style spread. Pikachu’s ears are made from Doritos.
Pokemon burgers are available at the Down N’ Out pop-up restaurant at Sir John Young Hotel, on the corner of Liverpool St and George St, in Sydney CBD. Customers don’t get to choose which Pokemon they will get; they are just given one at random upon ordering.
