'Pokemon Go' update: Players need to start walking to obtain the Johto Pokemon
With the latest update from Niantic, “Pokemon Go” players can finally get their hands dirty in trying to capture the second generation monsters of the franchise. The recent update includes Pokemon from the Johto region, which have proven quite difficult to catch.
As IGN has reported, the new Pokemon cannot be captured via the standard “Pokemon Go” means. Players cannot simply walk around and hope to stumble upon members of the second generation -- the only way to obtain them by hatching eggs. And while there are hacks to covering these distances, obtaining eggs that contain the new monsters are not certain. However, the chances are increased when the eggs are obtained after the update.
The publication goes on to say that 2 kilometer eggs could result in either Igglybuff or a Cleffa. These two evolve to Jigglypuff and Clefairy respectively. Meanwhile, 5 kilometer eggs may crack to release Pichu -- the pre-evolution of Pikachu -- and Togepi, which evolves into Togetic. Three Pokemon are possible to obtain with 5 kilometer eggs. This includes Smoochum, Magby and Elekid, which respectively evolve into Jynx, Magmar and Electabuzz.
Niantic has been quite generous when it comes to recent updates, as the game developer is clearly in it for the long haul. There were several complaints about “Pokemon Go” when it was first released, but the team behind the title has been working hard at bettering the game. These include new features that players previously relied on third-party servers for. With several tweaks and re-tweaks, the mobile game is evolving to become what was many expected from it. And just like with the real “Pokemon” shows, there are now even more monsters for gamers to catch.
