[UPDATE: Check out more glitches found for Pokemon X and Y: Read more here.]

"Pokemon X and Y," as well as other Pokemon generations, have held the interest of a number of gamers for a number of reasons. But one of the legendary reasons is the continuous quest for Shiny Pokemon, rare Pokemons in the game.

While there are a number of ways and tips on how to get a Shiny Pokemon on "Pokemon X and Y," such as chain fishing, the statistics of finding one in the game is still at 1/8,192. This makes it a rare find if you do encounter and catch one.

But Joystiq has found a Reddit post where a modder who goes by the name of dekuNukem has created a device dubbed to be a Shiny finder. Literally going by the name, it is a devised trick that gives a signal to the player that a Shiny Pokemon is nearby.

What you need are a state machine, an Arduino microcontroller, and less than 300 lines, at least this is what the Redditor dekuNukem needed. dekuNukem detailed the process of the mod at the start of the video, starting with connecting the microcontroller to your 3DS button logic via the level shifter.

Here's a new glitch that you need to know about, the Mystery Egg which can corrupt and infect your other Pokemons in "Pokemon X and Y": Read about it and know how to stay away from it.

Basically, there is quite a number of technical stuff that you have to do, but the mod works by giving off a loud alarm sound on the buzzer to notify if you will come across a Shiny on "Pokemon X and Y."

Those who would want to try this out for themselves may need some technical knowledge about soldering the microcontroller directly into the motherboard for the signal and shortcut to work. Otherwise, you might mess up some controls here and there.

But it is fun to watch the Shiny finder contraption at work, as seen in the video at the link above.

Friend Safari, a Haven for Shinies?

Another way to find Shinies that is now gaining popularity is spending time in Friend Safari. It seems that, compared to trying to find Shinies in the wild, some are speculating that "Pokemon X and Y" makes it easier to find Shinies in the Friend Safari.

In Reddit, a question thread asking about the commonness of finding a Shiny Pokemon in the Friend Safari has several people responding in the positive.

"I dunno... I got a shiny Growlithe and shiny Ditto seriously within 10 minutes of [each other]," said DinosaurNecromancer.

"I have 6 [shinies] and only 1 is from random encounters/EV training. [The] other 5 are from the Friend Safari. I might just be lucky in [Safaris] though," said Riccyd140.

"People seem to find a lot more [in Friend Safari]. 20 minutes into Friend Safari grinding I found a shiny Gyarados. First one I've seen in game," said RogueLike22.

In fact, speculations have stated that instead of the 1/8,192 chances, it becomes 1/1,000 chances to find a shiny in Friend Safari, a big leap when you think about the ease that some people do find them. From 5 minutes in Friend Safari to finding more than two or three in less than a few hours of each other---this may certainly beat the other rather tiring methods in "Pokemon X and Y."

Still, this may depend on luck, in Pokebeach, the same discussion was is ongoing, and a post from Frost Mage summarises the other side of shiny hunting in "Pokemon X and Y's" Friend Safari:

"However, not everyone is that lucky. I've been hunting for this shiny Eevee for days now, and nothing. And this is after I got two shiny Aipoms in less than 24 hours. As for the new shiny rates, one has to remember that these rates have only gone up so much in the Friend Safari, you can't find every Pokemon there."
