Power couple: David and Victoria Beckham reportedly plan to buy an estate in Gloucestershire
David Beckham and Victoria Beckham are reportedly eyeing a £5.4 million (AU $11.51 million) country pad in Gloucestershire after being seen in the villages of Nailsworth and Stroud and posing with fans at a local convenience store.
It has been reported that the famous couple are planning to buy a new ‘Beckingham Palace’ after selling their first sprawling Hertfordshire home for £11.5million (AU $24.51m). The Beckhams are currently renting a home in London.
A possible contender for the new Beckham 'Beckhingham Palace' could be a yet-to-be-named £27million (AU $57.57 m) estate in the Cotswolds -- a ten-bedroom mansion located on the banks of the River Dikler, which offers trout fishing and the potential for pheasant and partridge shooting.
Coasting two entrance lodges and 11 cottages, the estate also reportedly has a flock of 1,800 ewes which graze the grounds, which is sure to be a winner with the Beckham kids Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and four-year-old Harper. The country home is also surrounded by landscaped gardens designed by famous architect Edwin Lutyens and has lots of privacy, Hello reported.
Clive Hopkins, from real estate firm Knight Frank, said that the house was in the heart of the Cotswolds and very private. He added that the main home is not seen unless a person is on the estate, but still easily accessible.
Neighbours include Prince Charles, whose country retreat Highgrove is nearby, and his sister Princess Anne on the Gatcombe estate.
The next choice for the Beckhams could be Amberley House, which is spread over 22 acres of land in the Cotswold and worth £5.4 million (AU $11.51 m). The six-bedroom house was built in 1640 and boasts six reception rooms. Also a Grade II-listed property, it has an infinity swimming pool and tennis court, a two-bedroom lodge and pool house, and stables, Telegraph UK reported.
“There have been a couple of people in who have said about it. The fact that they were seen in Nailsworth adds fuel to the fire,” said Jane Bandy, landlady of the nearby Amberley Inn. Another villager added that everyone was talking about the Beckhams visiting the village, Mirror UK reported.
The power couple’s combined brand worth is reportedly a whopping 500 million pounds. They previously bought a £31.5 million (AU $67.13m) house in London, but it is currently being renovated.
