Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s retro style in 2015
Prince George is quite a trendsetter and every outfit that the child sensation wears is a huge hit and sells out quickly. The trendsetting royal tot causes a spike in sales of the designs he sports. Parents all over the world try to replicate his style for their sons. Although he is just two years old, he has become a mini style icon.
A look at the fashion hits of Prince George to date.
For their recent Christmas picture, the toddler yet again stole the spotlight. He was seen wearing a pale blue Fair Isle knit sweater from luxury Spanish children's wear label Fina Ejerique paired with a plain white polo top. The sweater is matched with blue Mayoral chino shorts by British brand Kit and Kaboodle. He's also wearing a pair of Start-Rite Jo shoes with matching Amaia knee socks.
For the christening of Princess Charlotte in July, the toddler wore a romper by Rachel Riley. The prince was wearing a pair of retro red shorts teamed up with a red embroidered white shirt. George's outfit, by designer Rachel Riley, is almost identical to the one worn by Prince William when he met his newborn brother Harry for the first time -- more than thirty years ago. Once again, George looked adorable in the outfit.
Kensington Palace, the official London residence of the Duke and Duchess, had shared special photographs of the little boy on its Twitter and Instagram. The images show Prince George, who was almost two-years-old at that time, holding the youngest British royal on his lap. He donned a Rachel Riley white and blue button down shirt, dark shorts with knee-high blue socks and black shoes.
On a visit with his dad Prince William to St. Mary’s Hospital on May 2, the little royal wore a blue cardigan with white shirt and shorts set by Rachel Riley from the brand’s Heritage collection. The white cotton shirt had blue piping and had turn-up-blue cord shorts with pearl effect buttons. The cardigan sold out very quickly after the little royal was spotted wearing it.
“Yes, we unfortunately sold out all of our cardigans but we're hoping to have them back in stock in two weeks. We feel very honoured to see Prince George wearing our clothes; he is the cutest model we could ever ask for,” a spokesperson for the designer told E Online.
Earlier this year, Kensington Place released a picture of the youngest of the royals, Princess Charlotte. In the picture, Charlotte is seen sitting on a green and yellow armchair. She is dressed in a pale pink floral printed dress by Liberty. The little princess matched her white ruffle collared-dress with a pink cashmere cardigan and tights. Her ribbed knit tights are from Amaia Kids, one of Kate’s go-to labels for her children.
The designer, Amaia Arrieta, said Charlotte looked cute and just like her brother George, People reports. She confirmed that the tights were from her label but the dress looks very European. The pictures of the British royal baby were taken at the family’s country home, Amner Hall, in Norfolk. They were released by Kensington Palace via its official twitter account.
In the Royal family's official photo, seven-month-old Charlotte is seen wearing the same pink ensemble. For her christening, the princess wore an intricate dress with the long train, high bow and high collar and was reportedly made as a replica from what Queen Victoria’s children wore. The original gown become too delicate to use.
The original had been worn by around 60 different royal babies and was created from Honiton lace. After each wearing, it was reportedly washed in spring water and then carefully stored, in more recent times, by Kelly and her team back at Buckingham Palace. The newer version was first worn in 2008 by Viscount Severn and Prince George had his turn in it on his big day in October 2103.
