PS4’s Need for PS Plus & Bundle Featuring PS Eye and Knack With PS4 Console Leaked
A new bundle may be brewing in the Sony headquarters, and it's looking at the PlayStation Eye as part of the deal with Sony's much-awaited game, Knack.
Earlier this week, leaks of the bundle had pertained to the possibility that Sony had originally intended to bundle the PS Eye with the PS4, but had ditched the idea to maintain a lower price point to Microsoft's Xbox One.
Geek reports that another possibility is that it is a new bundle, one that will be priced higher than the original PS4 bundle given the addition of Knack and the PS Eye, but may be priced in a more enticing manner compared to buying the PS Eye on its own.
A close approximate of the price would reveal that it would be at par with Microsoft's Xbox One's base price, which includes the Xbox One box and the Kinect.
Still, going by a report from ShackNews, Sony's bundle will still have a lot more in value and offers, as the original $399 bundle already comes with a 500GB HDD, HDMI cable, one DualShock 4 controller, and the headset.
Recent reports on the Xbox One revealed that the headset will be sold separately.
For the meantime, Sony has not yet commented on this report, but it has said previously that the PS Eye is an optional accessory that can enhance the gaming experience, but its absence won't have a hard-hitting effect on gamers.
Why you need the PS Plus subscription
Sony has been dubbed as the poster boy for console, trumping Microsoft's Xbox One at the last E3 face-off, while continuing to offer a wide variety of game announcements and options for the PS4.
However, some remain unconvinced of the necessity for a subscription with the PS Plus for online play.
"The main pillar for the PS3 will be online play. We're developing many new ways to play and connect, which requires a large investment of resources," said Shuhei Yoshida, Sony Worldwide Studios boss, in the report quoted by GameSpot.
"Considering the cost, to try to keep such a service free and consequently lower the quality would be absurd. We decided that if that's the case, then it would be better to receive proper payment and continue to offer a good service."
While many consider this to be a main change from the PS3's free online play, the PS Plus subscription will deliver many freebies and better games to subscribers. The current offer that comes with the subscription is a free game every month, as well as access to discounts and games that won't be just for the PS4, but also the PS3 and PS Vita as well.
In addition, those who really can't or won't pay the $50 per year subscription can still enjoy online multiplayer in some of Sony's games, including Blacklight: Retribution, DC Universe Online, and PlanetSide 2, which have all announced that they won't require PS Plus for online play.
