Psy’s New Single, Gentleman, Gets 10.7 Million Hits Hours After YouTube Release
The verdict is out. Psy's new single, Gentleman, appears to be headed for another YouTube record as the official music video of his new song logged more than 10.7 million hits on Sunday.
The impressive number of views came just a few hours after the South Korean K-pop singer released his new song after the mega monster hit Gangnam Style, which has more than 1.6 billion his on the video sharing site.
He sang the new song for the first time publicly on Saturday at Seoul's World Cup stadium. The event was broadcast live on YouTube at 6:30 p.m., Seoul time, which was 5:30 a.m. on the U.S. East Coast. Fans who attended the concert came in white.
Gentleman bears similar dance move to Gangnam Style, including the elevator sequences, but it is naughtier with chair-pulling antics, butt-scratching and references to diarrhea.
He said he will promote the new song as vigorously as he did for Gangnam style and will hold concert promo tours in America in April, Europe in May and Asia in June.
Pundits said that it is a Korea week with Kim Jong Un and Psy representing the two faces of North and South Korea hogging the headlines. However, it appears the singer is more popular than the leader, whose YouTube video showing Kim firing a gun with only 275,000 views.
