To mark his 30th, the Queen will give his grandson and his wife Kate Middleton one of the cottages in her beloved Sandringham estate. Now that's not a typical gift you get for your birthday.

Since he is royally, he is expected to have some royal treatment for his birthday last week. The Duke of Cambridge's grandmother, The Queen, gave him and his wife a property that will be made available for them later this year.

Prince William who celebrated his birthday on Thursday last week is said to have continued the celebration privately with friends and family over the weekend. It is assumed that William was delighted of the Queen's gift since he celebrated his first Christmas with Kate as husband and wife in Sandringham.

"A property is definitely being made available to William and Kate this year and a plan is in place for William to have his own place on the estate," a source told The Mail last Sunday. "He's a country boy and loves Norfolk, just like his father and his grandparents. It's a lovely, peaceful place and William adores it."

The 20,000 acre Sandringham estate has been owned by The Queen since 1952. Although there are plenty of properties to choose from, The Queen stays at her Edwardian mansion. And even if much of the land is open to the public, paparazzi are no longer allowed to photograph the Royal Family while they're relaxing there.

However, it is still unknown which among the 150 residential and commercial properties will be given to William and Kate. Options are the York Cottage which is used as an estate office or the Wood Farm Cottage which is used as informal weekend retreats by the younger Royals.
