‘Rap God’ rapper Eminem is the greatest, G-Eazy says
Gerald Earl Gillium, 26, who is professionally known as G-Eazy, released his second studio album titled “When It’s Dark Out” on Dec. 4. Recently, the Bay Area rapper expressed how much he respects Detroit rapper Marshall Mathers III, who is professionally known as Eminem, 43.
On Dec. 10, Thursday, G-Eazy was the guest in the 26th episode of Rap Radar Podcast, in which he talked about “When It’s Dark Out.” He also clarified a line in the lyrics of his song “Calm Down,” which goes “I’m the coldest white rapper in the game since the one with the bleached hair.”
“Much respect to Eminem,” G-Eazy said in response to those who thought he was stepping to the “Rap God” rapper. “He’s the greatest.”
G-Eazy clarified that in the lyrics of “Calm Down,” he said “since” and “not the coldest ever.” He added that he wanted to look like Eminem when he was 10 years old so he had bleached blonde hair.
“Calm Down” is one the 17 tracks from “When It’s Dark Out.” The album has 12 collaboration songs, which include “One of Them” featuring Big Sean, “Drifting” featuring Chris Brown and Tory Lanez, “Nothing to Me” featuring E-40 and Keyshia Cole and “Everything will be Okay” featuring Kehlani.
In another interview with “Ebro In The Morning” on Hot 97, G-Eazy said “When It’s Dark Out” has the ability to take him to that next level. At the same time, he believes that the album will still keep his core audience satisfied.
“That’s the line to walk,” Hip Hop DX quoted G-Eazy as saying. “(It) is to grow and expand as an artist, but keep your core, especially for somebody like me, who has been so organic.”
While G-Eazy has just released his second studio album, fans are waiting for Eminem to release his ninth studio album. The “Rap God” rapper’s eighth studio album titled “The Marshall Mathers LP 2” was released on Nov. 5, 2013.
