“Ray Donovan” Season 4 is set to launch sometime in 2016. Show head David Hollander recently provided some details on the things to expect in the new season.

Spoiler alert! This article contains “Ray Donovan” season 4 spoilers.

TVLine writes that Ray (Liev Schreiber) will be much different in Season 4 compared to his personality in the previous three seasons, after opening up about his past and the psychological and emotional struggles that he is going through.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hollander said that in the final moments of Season 3, he wanted Ray to return to the place where he is most vulnerable. Viewers saw what Los Angeles meant to Ray. He was taken back to the place by the man who used to be his sponsor, imagined persecutor and possible savior, at the same time.

Mickey (Jon Voight) was last seen heading to Las Vegas, but he will be reappearing in the new episodes. Paige (Katie Holmes) is also expected to return in the new season, although her family will no longer be the main focus of the plot.

As for Bridget (Kerris Dorsey), she wants to feel less controlled by her father, Ray. Ray’s biggest worry is actually Bridget turning into his sister.

Terry’s (Eddie Marsan) near-death experience was for Ray to realise that he needed to be redeemed for the sake of his brother. Terry and Abby’s friendship will continue, but they will no longer be romantically linked. Bunchy (Dash Mihok), on the other hand, will most likely be an excellent father.

The director shared that “Ray Donovan” Season 4 will delve more into Ray’s desire to face his own past. He will be brought into a new type of relationship, which will reveal more into his personal and professional life in another big city. He will have to answer more hard questions pertaining to his past and learn how to open up more about his history of having been abused as a child.

There will be new family dynamics, new situations and new conflicts with various members of the Donovan family. Hollander added that the new season will not happen in Boston. There will be several scenes in places that are almost an offshoot of Los Angeles.

Ray Donovan” will air in 2016 on Showtime.
