'Ray Donovan' season 3 finale recap: It’s a showdown between the Donovans and the Minassians in ‘Exsuscito’

The final episode of “Ray Donovan” Season 3 aired on Sunday on Showtime. After all the trouble that Ray (Liev Schreiber) and his family have been through, it all boiled down to a showdown between the Donovans and the Minassians. Read on for the “Ray Donovan” season 3 finale recap.

In “ Exsuscito,” Bridget (Kerris Dorsey) tried to convince her teacher, Greg Donellen (Aaron Staton), to run away with her. The two were about to make love in a hotel, but Donellen changed his mind and cried about how much he missed his wife. While Bridget was consoling him, Ray breaks into the room and beats up Donellen. He dragged Bridget out and drove away with her. Bridget, however, was furious at Ray and went out of the car. By the end of the episode, she has packed her things and is prepared to run away.

Mickey (Jon Voight) decided that he will stay in town although the Minassians are out to kill him. Two Minassians went to Mickey’s apartment and fired shots through the window. Michelle (Christy Williams) was killed, while Terry (Eddie Marsan) got hit in the gut.

In the meantime, Bunchy (Dash Mihok) and Teresa (Alyssa Diaz) are having a baby. When Teresa announced it to Bunchy, the latter only stared off into space, which made her angry. Bunchy was just concerned about his own past and how it might affect his being a father. Teresa assured him that things will get better.

While Ray and Avi (Steven Bauer) were preparing to ambush the Minassians at their home base, they spotted Mickey coming with a gun to exact revenge on the family, too. Ray and Avi entered immediately while Mickey was involved in a shootout. The two managed to kill everyone but Mrs. Minassian (Grace Zabriskie). Mickey slit her throat while she was threatening Ray that it is not over.

Subsequently, Ray went to see Father Romero (Leland Orser) to confess. He admitted his sins and finally dealt with his trauma. The Donovan family is obviously damaged. Season 4 of “Ray Donovan” will showcase how Ray will fix the family issues. TV Line reports that Ray will be more vulnerable in the next season of the show. He is on a path that will lead him to face very hard questions. There will also be plenty of returning characters such as Mickey, Bridget, Terry and Abby (Paula Malcomson).
