Rayman Legends fans have already been talking about the release of Rayman Legends for the Wii U platform this week, but according to EuroGamer, they'll have to wait more than half a year to get their hands on the copy this September.

It's a surprisingly long delay, considering how the game is already ready for release in the Wii U platform. The real problem lies in how Ubisoft executives want to delay the release so that Rayman Legends will become a multiplatform game when it's brought to the market.

The supposed silver lining to the delay? Users of all platforms, including Xbox 360, PlayStation3, and Wii U will get to enjoy Rayman all at the same time.

"We usually release all of our platforms simultaneously (aside from PC). We've made special exception sometimes in the past but it's definitely just on a case by case basis and not our standard practice," said Sarah Irvin, Ubisoft public relations specialist to Digital Spy.

"In this case, Ubisoft recently decided they wanted to release the game on multiple platforms so the decision was made to launch them all at the same time rather than separately.

IGN reports that even Rayman creator Michel Ancel along with the dev team of Rayman are on protest, as they want to see the game released on the date that it was slated for, which is February 26.

It gets worse. Due to the delay, Digital Trends reports that Ancel may break away from Ubisoft at the news of the Rayman delay. However, the split may not be as harsh and ending as it seems, as Ancel will be tied to Rayman, as its creator, and may collaborate with Ubisoft on his next project.

As a way to appease the crowd, IGN also reports that exclusive demos may be offered to Wii U gamers, but this may not be enough to appease the developers who have worked hard to reach the deadline for the game release.

EuroGamer even reports another Rayman Legends developer had even quit the company at the end of last month, saying that the efforts that they had placed on finishing the game to meet the deadline has been all for vain.

"For us [the delay] means we've spent six months barely seeing our wives, kids, and friends for nothing, because, after all, such a haste wasn't needed. Believe it, it was a hell to swallow this news," said the undisclosed developer to EuroGamer.

As of now, there are no news stating any changes in management. There are still two days left before the supposed release date, and still enough time left for management to potentially change their mind if they want to push through with the delay for such a reason.
