Razer zVault launches: The secure digital wallet for gamers
American gaming maven Razer announced on Tuesday that it pushes to make its zVault virtual currency platform the desired payment solution of the gaming community for tasks such as online purchasing and in-game transactions. The exclusive monetary system is based on zGold units, where 100 zGold converts to US$1.00 (AU$1.33).
Razer refers to the zVault as a “secure digital wallet” for gamers with virtual currency to spend for purchases and rewards. Razer zVault patrons who use zGold for paying for digital transactions get to earn zSilver currency off those payments. It can also be done via the company’s other platforms like the Razer Cortex and Arena.
“The introduction of zVault is all about giving value to gamers with secure payment convenience and a great rewards program,” said Razer CEO and co-founder Min-Liang Tan. “This is much more than a club or credit card perks program or micro-transaction solution. Our ultimate vision is a complete gamer economy expanding from the zVault ecosystem. It’s social, interactive and truly useful, opening the doors to a safer way of doing business and an expansive rewards market for our fans.”
Those who have Razer IDs can access the virtual currency platform at the zVault website, where there are more than 22 million registered users at the moment. There, Razer ID holders not only get to look through content and exclusive purchase offers, they also get to browse for rewards available for redemption using zSilver.
Wallet reloading is done by getting zGold packages on the site, which are offered in 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000 denominations. The zGold bundles can be purchased using Openbucks, PayPal, Paysafecard or major credit cards.
As its way of celebrating the zVault’s official launch, the gaming company is giving its Razer ID users a chance to redeem exclusive benefits for a limited time, such as the starter gift pack of Bonus 2,000 zSilver, up to 30 percent extra Bonus zGold for those who top up their wallet for a limited time, additional ways to make zSilver plus secure selected discount offers and bonus in-game items when using zGold.
zGold is presently used on free-to-play games such as the third-person MOBA “Smite” and the multiplayer hero shooter “Paladins” by Hi-Rez Studios. Smilegate West’s online tactical first-person shooter “CrossFire” and the action-packed beat-‘em-up “Lost Saga” also currently accept zGold.
The Razer zVault has likewise made its way to game stores like GamersGate and IndieGala, where gamers can buy titles in the form of Steam keys. Trion Worlds is also set on incorporating zGold as a payment preference into its half a dozen game titles soon.
