Rebel Wilson Hints One Direction a Snob?Aussie Star Reveals Why the Censored Joke at 2013 TCA [VIDEO]
It was a joke left in distaste at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards but Aussie comedienne, Rebel Wilson has finally revealed why she made the censored joke that left her most hated star by One Direction's millions of fans.
The “Super Fun Night” star has spoken for the first time as to why she made the nasty joke on stage at the Choice Awards in August 2013. Apparently she felt she was snubbed by the English-Irish group when she met them back stage.
Speaking at the Conan O’Brien’s show, “Conan,” Rebel explained why she sound she was not a fan of the popular boy band.
Recalling the day of the much-talked about censored remarks on TCA stage, Rebel said that she went to see the group’s dressing room before the show. Being a fan and as free-spirited as she is, Rebel has no qualms being a fan and asked the group if she could a picture with them. These photos were later shared on her instagram account.
Rebel continued explaining the reception she got form the boys. Apparently, they were not too friendly. She said she was met with “indifference.”
She knew she had to do something about it, even if it meant making the censored remarks. As soon as she stepped on stage to receive her Choice award, Rebel got her chance. She dissed on the group.
She said: “Wow, isn’t it funny there’s a band called One Direction, ’cause that’s also the name I give my a**hole.”
Still there’s no sign of regrets on Rebel even after receiving flaks for her acceptance speech. And it should be interesting to note that she still does her free-spirited self as she recalled the incident at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards.
She continued however, that the wrath of her comment did not stop as the curtain at the VMA’s went down. Rebel said that the incident gave her new friends, or better yet, “frenemies.”
The Aussie host and producer also told Conan that the remarks have caused some stir to 1D fans who she said also knew how to let her know they didn’t like what she said on stage. Not one bit.
Rebel won her prize for Choice Actress in a Comedy, for her performance in "Pitch Perfect" in Aug. 2013.
