'X-Files' Stars David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson Hint Third Sequel; Reveal Feeling 'Married' on Hit Series [VIDEO]
If the decision were only up to the fans of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, they would make a third sequel of the hit series’ feature film, the “X-Files”. But the former co-stars leave everything to the sci-fi’s devoted fans to get their voice heard and for 20th Century Fox to make it happen.
Duchovny and Anderson shared their united thoughts at the 20th anniversary of “The X-Files.” Held recently at The Paley Center for Media in New York City, the former co-stars expressed desire for another film if indeed there will be one.
The panel discussion they sat on for the anniversary of the “X-Files” series was part of the show’s officials to recognize its success since it premiered two decades ago. The series ran for nine seasons and it gave birth to two feature films.
And there’s no doubt that the “X-Files” fans want to see Duchovny and Anderson reunite with their characters as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
And Duchovny, 53 and Anderson, 45 are both excited to be on screen once again.
"All the principals are on board," Duchovny said, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. "Gillian and I want to do it, so it's really up to Twentieth Century Fox at this point."
Anderson believes that fans will play a major role to get the ball rolling. This means, if they have to knock on the doors of every Fox official as long as they get to get them moving, Anderson thinks they will be able to convince the film honchos for another sequel.
"If it takes fan encouragement to get Fox interested in that then I guess that's what it would be," Anderson noted.
While they share how excited how they are for a third sequel, members of media grilled them on the real score of their relationship. Duchovny and Anderson indeed played lovers as agents Mulder and Scully in the hit series. They even revealed “feeling married” in the 2008 film, “The X-Files: I Want to Believe.”
"Well they (Mulder and Scully) were married the last movie," Duchovny began, before Anderson cut him off with, "Were we actually married?"
"I believe so. That was my impression," finished Duchovny.
