‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ release date, trailer, storyline
The third instalment of Rockstar Games' popular "Red Dead Redemption" series has gamers abuzz and it seems like several pertinent details about "Red Dead Redemption 2" are already available.
Previously, the game developers had announced via a trailer that the title is due for release in the fall of 2017. However, they refused to divulge the exact release date or any spoilers with regards to the game's storyline.
According to gaming website RDR2, Littlewoods, a British retailer has accidently leaked the release date of the upcoming title on its website by posting a pre-order page which reveals Oct. 2, 2017 as the delivery/release date. The date is in tune with the game developers' previous reveal that the title would be out in the fall.
It's important to note that the potential Oct. 2 release date hasn't been confirmed by Rockstar Games. Also, websites such as Amazon and Gamestop have a placeholder release date of Dec. 31 even as several reports have confirmed that the game is due for a release in the fall.
According to iDigitalTimes, the Oct. 2 date could also be a placeholder since most games in the US market are released on Tuesdays. Games in the European market are typically released on Fridays.
Those who played the first instalment of the world western action-adventure game in 2010 are anxiously awaiting the release of "Red Dead Redemption 2." Typically, sequels are released within a few years but gamers have been waiting seven long years for the second coming of John Marston -- the central character and the main protagonist of the game series.
Red Dead Redemption 2 plot: Three main protagonists
Per reports, the sequel will be centred around three protagonists, who are members of John Marston’s gang. Some feel that the game could actually be a prequel to the original "Red Dead Redemption" since the trailer shows several Old West gunslingers riding on horses before the zombie outbreak. Gaming website Tweak Town reckons that the game could have something to do with the Magnificent Seven. It remains to be seen.
Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, revealed during a recent event, via Tweak Town, that the game will be heavily driven by story elements. "You can expect there to be great story elements and gameplay elements. We took a different point of view (with Red Dead Redemption 1) which is that very occasionally westerns capture the imagination of the public. When we launched Red Dead, it did. And those times were right for that. And I think the times are right for a big, sprawling, optimistic view of America again. And that's not meant to be cute."
"Red Dead Redemption 2" will release in the fall of 2017 for PS4 and Xbox One. There is still no confirmation about a PC version.
