'Rick and Morty season 3' episode 2 release date: Fallout from 'The Rickshank Rickdemption'
After toying with fans for nearly a year about the launch date of "Rick and Morty season 3," Adult Swim dropped the first episode titled "The Rickshank Rickdemption" on April Fools' Day. The makers of the mega-hit comedy series recently tweeted that the second episode will air some time during the summer.
The second season, consisting 10 episodes, aired between July and October of 2015. The creators have been very candid about the reason for the delay to season 3, dwelling on the difficulty to write, besides “struggling not to over think or under think (the writing process). They've often mocked anxious fans on social media and tried to express “how hard and confusing it can be in a RAM writers room."
Creator Dan Harmon, during a chat with fans at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, cited his quarrels with co-creator Justin Roiland as another reason for the delay. "(Roiland and I) have fights all the time and then we have fights about why we’re having fights, Well, we didn’t fight during season 2, that’s why it’s taking longer! All this fighting! So OK, let’s stop fighting," Harmon was quoted as saying by India Wire.
A few weeks later, Harmon clarified his comments about fights with Roland. "I tell you, as a self destructively honest guy, Justin and I have literally never fought. Season three isn’t late because of “fighting.” In fact, ironically, maybe THAT’s the delay-cause. We respect and terrify each other and always want the other to be happy," the 44-year-old wrote on Twitter.
Rick and Morty season 3 episode 2 release date: 14 episodes from July
It seems like most of the tough part is over. One of the writers recently tweeted that all the 14 episodes for "Rick and Morty season 3" are written and ready for production. The first episode saw steady progression from pending season 2 storylines. After the Galactic Federation invades Earth, Morty and Summer summon the Council of Ricks in the pursuit of their imprisoned grandfather. Rick C-137, in trademark Rick fashion, manages to transport his mind into one of the other Ricks, crashing the meeting of the council before killing the rest of the Ricks.
After the Smiths were reunited at the end of the episode, the post credits scene shows Tammy alive and well. Tammy was last seen fighting Squanchy during the season two finale. As described aptly by The Independent, "things (episode 1) end(s) with Rick telling Morty this was his plan all along: to get Beth to divorce Jerry so he could be the house’s Alpha male and they can go on adventures all the time. All -- it should be noted -- to hopefully bring back McDonald’s delicious Mulan-sponsored Szechuan sauce."
"Rick and Morty" season 3 episode 2 titled "Rickmancing the Stone" will be released some time in the summer. If the previous season is anything to go by, episode two could air in July.
