'Riverdale' season 2 chapter 14: 'A Kiss Before Dying' hints at major character exiting
"Riverdale" is on a break, although the people behind the hit series are already busy preparing for next season. In the season finale, most were left distraught when Fred Andrews (Luke Perry) took a bullet for his son Archie (KJ Apa) in a mysterious robbery that took place at Pop’s Chock'lit Shoppe.
There are a lot of scenes to recall, some of them tied up to the incident. The elder Andrews apparently crossed a lot of lines related to the celebrated return of Hiram Lodge (reportedly being played by Mark Consuelos), according to TV Line.
In the season finale of "Riverdale," Hermione Lodge (Marisol Nichols) hints at a character change. With her husband returning, it was time to clean house – including that celebrated buyout of Fred. Aside from that, there was the case of Archie and Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes), who had a thing going. With conflicts ahead, the shooting may have been a way for Hermione to divert Archie's attention and a means to break his relationship with Veronica.
Does it make sense to kill off Fred Andrews?
Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed the official working title for the premiere episode of "Riverdale" season 2 via Twitter. It is titled "A Kiss Before Dying," with the photo referring to the events that went down at Pop's Chock’lit” Shoppe, Screen Rant reports.
The easiest way to depict it is the potential death of Fred Andrews. Further supporting that claim is the fact that Luke Perry's tenure is still uncertain.
The killing of Archie's dad could make sense only that a major character exit may be tricky. But if one digs deeper, it could simply be a collage of things to come. If there is a character being killed, it could be one of the new faces most don't associate with the comic book series.
Will 'Cheryl' still blossom?
In the season finale, there was the major transformation by Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch). Killing her off this early may make no sense, with most wanting to know what she has up her sleeve.
Burning down Thornhill raises conflicting questions. Will Cheryl rise on her own and continue the family business (her way), or will she be making a move to fit in with Archie and the gang?
If ever a character would be killed off, it could be any of the new faces inserted by the production team. Candidates would include Polly Cooper (Tiera Skovby) or Joaquin DeSantos (Rob Raco), assuming he returns at some point next season.
With "Riverdale" season 2 not expected until next year, there should be plenty of hints popping up. Check back for new updates here on IBT AU.
