Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart start filming for 2017, may reunite for new “Twilight” film
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have started filming for their new movies in 2017. The actors are not currently working together, but there might be a possible reunion if another “Twilight” film pushes through.
Pattinson has three movies in line: “The Lost City of Z,” “Good Time” and “Damsel.” Stewart, on the other hand, is busy filming an untitled Lizzie Borden project, which is expected to be released this year.
The last time Pattinson and Stewart worked together was four years ago for their “Twilight” film. There are whispers that a “Twilight”sequel might happen, but nothing is officially confirmed as of now.
Last year, Lionsgate's co-chairman Patrick Wachsberger teased fans about a possible new “Twilight” film. Lionsgate Films is a film production and distribution studio that was responsible for bringing the “Twilight” saga.
During an interview with Screen Daily, Wachsberger clarified that nothing has been official. He stated that another “Twilight” film will only happen if author Stephenie Meyer will write another novel.
“It’s a possibility,” he says. “Not a certainty but it’s a possibility. It’s about Stephenie [novelist Stephenie Meyer]. If she wants to tell a story related to those characters we’re here for her,” Wachsberger said.
According to Cinema Blend, the “Twilight” series actually still has several narrative threads in play. Per the outlet, it would not be terribly difficult for Meyer to pick up the story of Edward and Bella several years after the events of “Breaking Dawn Part 2.”
Aside from a new novel from Meyer, the reunion will only be possible if both Pattinson and Stewart agree to work together again. The actors have vocally expressed disinterest in reprising their roles as Bella Swan and Edward Cullen per source. Some fans are afraid that their high-profile breakup in 2012 will prevent them from wanting to work together.
