“Rogue One: A Star Wars” is reportedly heading for reshoots, but that is not expected to affect the release date of the movie. The next trailer and some more information about the heroes and villains are expected to be teased at the forthcoming Comic-Con event.

The producers and some executives from Disney watched the first cut of the movie and apparently they were not impressed, Deadline reports. Although there wasn’t any test screening for “The Force Awakens,” the executives at Disney felt that the Gareth Edwards movie lacked that same “edge” that the J.J. Abrams movie had.

The cast and crew will be heading for some reshoots, but it is not expected to create substantial delays. The release date of the movie has not been pushed and the director may also have the next trailer or some teaser ready for the forthcoming Comic-Con event.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Edwards failed to capture that same “classic” tone of the franchise in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” Getting the tone right for the movie is especially important because it is a prequel to the 1977 movie titled “A New Hope.”

A Disney insider reportedly revealed that the new movie feels more like a war movie, rather than something from the “Star Wars” universe. The reshoots are expected to “lighten the mood” and “bring some levity into the story.” This would make the movie capture a sense of adventure that is common to all the movies from the franchise.

The main plot of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” revolves around a group of Rebels stealing the plans for the Death Star super weapon of the Empire. Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) will lead a group in the movie to steal the plans.
