'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' production update: Donnie Yen to return for additional photography
Donnie Yen will have to go back for some additional photography for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” the actor revealed in a recent interview. The actor plays the role of one of the heroes named Chirrut in the movie.
In an interview posted on Jayne Stars, Yen revealed that he will have to go back to London soon for some additional photography. He did not say whether there would be more reshoots for the move. The actor also talked about how he took the role because his children were big fans of the franchise.
This is the first spin-off movie from the franchise and expectations are high. But, Disney is reportedly not happy with what director Gareth Edwards has delivered so far and is said to have ordered some expensive reshoots.
According to a report by Page Six, an insider familiar with the developments at Disney said that Gareth was selected to helm the movie because he demonstrated his ability to handle big projects with “Godzilla.” But, the studio is not happy with “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” as it is not testing well and has ordered reshoots.
The director is apparently known for taking risks and prefers limited interference from the studio. However, with so much riding on the success of the movie, Disney will reportedly not take a back seat.
The source from Disney added that the cast and crew always knew that there would be some reshoots for the movie. However, with the success of “The Force Awakens” the filmmakers will feel the pressure to deliver the best movie they can.
“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is slated to be released on Dec. 15, 2016 in Australia. The main plot of the movie revolves around a group of Rebels attempting to steal the plans for the Death Star super weapon that the Empire has constructed.
