Ronda Rousey
Ultimate Fighting Championship, or UFC, women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey asserts that despite her continued success in the mixed martial arts arena her judo is still as sharp as ever and is the main reason why she can still snatch an Olympic gold medal. While the reigning queen bee of the UFC proclaimed she still yearns to collect the best prize in the Olympics, she has no immediate plans to return to the once in every four years sports meet.IN PHOTO: Ronda Rousey (2nd L) of the U.S., Mayra Silva (L) of Brazil, Marylise Levesque (2nd R) of Canada and Yuri Alvear of Colombia hold their medals after the women's -70kg judo competition at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro July 20, 2007. Ultimate Fighting Championship, or UFC, women’s reigning bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey offered a glimpse into her lighter side after posting in her Instagram page the sexy photos that were part of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. This will be the second time that the talented undefeated champion has graces the pages of a men’s magazine given that she first posed for ESPN The Magazine Body Issue dating back to 2012.

Rousey is a versatile talent. Aside from her regular armbar submissions in the Octagon (8 of her last 10 win came via armbar submissions), “Rowdy” also has a Hollywood career with her debut happening last year through the “Expendables 3” franchise. She has two more movies lined for 2015 with the seventh instalment of the Fast and Furious racing movies and the movie version of “Entourage,” a popular HBO series on Hollywood life. The 28-year-old Olympic bronze medallist is also busy preparing a memoir that she is penning with her sister. The book is slated to be available in book shelves this summer. Add to her busy schedule the part-time modelling contract with David Briton Jeans and the latest photo shoot with Sport Illustrated.

“I purposely tried to get a little bit heavier for the ‘SI’ issue so I was a little bit curvier and not in top fight shape look but the look at which I feel I’m the most attractive,” Rousey described her physique for the shoot according to The Independent.

After getting wide media coverage due to the illustrious photos, Rousey downplayed the praises for her fitness and reminded everyone that she focused on her upcoming title defence against number two contender Cat Zingano. A day after posting her Sports Illustrated photos on her page, she posted a new picture with her training for the match and enclosed a caption of “Okay enough of the swimsuit pics for now… Those were taken months ago — this is what I’m really up to #UFC184 training camp — ready to defend my belt once again #feb28.”

Rousey is scheduled to gauge her drawing power as she and Zingano are the lone main event for UFC 184 after the co-headline fight of Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort was cancelled after Weidman suffered an injury during training. The bout will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles California on Feb. 28.
