'The Royals' TV Series Season 1 Episode 6 Recap: Prince Liam Takes Ophelia To Monaco

In this week’s episode of the new TV series “The Royals” on E, the gang is in Monaco and they are intent on causing mayhem in the billionaire’s playground. Prince Liam invited Ophelia and Princess Eleanor is happy to leave her bodyguard Jasper behind. She is accompanied only by a diplomatic bag full of drugs and illegal substances.
During the masquerade ball in last week's episode, Prince Liam decided to end his love triangle once and for all. He invited Ophelia to accompany him to Monaco where he is flying with his sister and a group of close friends. After a little hesitation, Ophelia agrees to come and try living in Liam’s world. Unfortunately, Gemma arrives and makes Ophelia feel uncomfortable. However, no matter what Gemma does, Liam stands by his girl and Ophelia manages to enjoy herself and fit in. She also manages to survive with a little help from Princess Eleanor.
Eleanor has escaped Jasper after learning that he never really had a sex tape of her. She vows to enjoy herself in Monaco and brings in a diplomatic bag full of drugs and other illegal paraphernalia. To her disappointment, the bag disappears as soon as she arrives. On the other hand, she is thrilled to find her brother Robert’s best friend Beck. He is also in the house after Liam invited him to come. It turns out that she had an extended fling with Beck some years ago and that she has always been in love with him. Liam knows this and invited him in an attempt to cheer her up.
It turns out, Beck isn’t just there to lift her spirits. He has taken Eleanor’s drug stash and has forced her to stay drug-free for an entire day. After having a talk with her, she manages yet another day sober. He tells her how much potential she has and how she should not throw it all away. The two of them kiss bit Eleanor walks away because she knows that he would never be with her. It turns out, he is married and isn’t willing to leave his wife for the Princess.
On a lighter note, the gang enjoys some time in the casino. Gemma loses Ashok’s new car during a poker game and everyone sets out on a mission to get it back. Liam tries to win it back through a game of darts. He wins the game but when the guy refuses to return the car, a fight ensues. Opheila ends up getting the car back by threatening to shoot the guy with a bow and arrow. She succeeds but ends up accidentally shooting Ashok with a bow to the shin. It’s a minor injury and everyone has a laugh.
Back in England, Jasper requests for a transfer and the Queen takes him as her security detail. Jasper gets advice from Ophelia’s dad to be careful with the Queen and tells him that she is insecure of Eleanor’s youth and beauty. He uses the advise when the Queen corners him about his background and how he has seduced her daughter. Jasper tells the Queen that he was never after Eleanor but prefers the Queen. He manages to get on her good side and he avoids being tried for treason when he services her in bed. Unfortunately for both of them, the King sees Jasper leaving the room. The King decides to see the Prime Minister for reasons yet to be disclosed.
Prudence also manages to get herself out of trouble in this episode. She gets a chance to share tea with the King and spy on him like the Duke of York wanted. She meets the King outside the castle where he tells her how he watches people at the bus stops. He rides the tube and observes the people to understand them better. Prudence refuses to continue spying on the King after she realises he is a good person. She confronts the Duke of York and tells him that she refuses to work for him against the King. She also points out to him that whatever leverage he has over her can’t be used against her because she knows that he will avoid any kind of Royal scandal at the moment.
It’s an episode of small victories for Prudence, Liam and Ophelia. The Queen and King have their fair share of setbacks and both Gemma and Eleanor have broken hearts. The story continues when “The Royals” returns next Sunday at 10 pm on E.
