Rumors About Dropping Kristen Stewart In ‘Snow White And The Huntsman’ Sequel Denied

Universal Pictures co-chairman Donna Langely claimed in a statement last Wednesday afternoon that the studio is currently exploring all the options to continue with the "Snow White and The Huntsman" movie franchise and the reports about Kristen Stewart's exit from the film are false.

Well, it looks like the young actress has not been dropped in the cast after all.

Several media outlets reported by a citing a story that the lead female character Kristen Stewart was being dropped from the film. All of the drama is obviously related to the infamous cheating scandal that involved the 22-year old Stewart with the married "Snow White and The Huntsman" film director Rupert Sanders. Incriminating photographs of Stewart and Sanders was published by Us Weekly and it showed that the two were romantically involved. After the scandal broke out, both parties have publicly apologized for their momentary indiscretion.

"We are extremely proud of 'Snow White and the Huntsman' and we're currently exploring all options to continue the franchise," Donna Langely, Universal co-chairwoman, said in a statement to TheWrap.com.

"Any reports that Kristen Stewart has been dropped are false," Langely added.

According to reports, the studio was looking to make the second film more of a spin off rather than a sequel to shift the focus on the Huntsman character that was portrayed by Australian actor Chris Hemsworth. A series of "Snow White" movies looks promising to Hollywood because the film has so far grossed $389.3 million worldwide. It has also been reported that director Rupert Sanders is still on board in directing the second film.

Meanwhile, reports also noted that Universal Pictures would be able to shave millions from the budget of the sequel if they will not employ Kristen Stewart as the lead character. The young actress is currently claimed to be one of Hollywood's highest paid actresses with the help of the "Twilight" film's success.

Donna Langely's statement did not really declare whether the second film would be a spin off or a sequel but the co-chairman confirmed that Kristen Stewart will still portray the character. Also, Langely did not confirm whether Rupert Sanders would actually return to direct the second film. Neither Kristen Stewart nor Rupert Sanders had commented on the reports.
