The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is definitely on its way to Australian tech stores following the decision by the High Court of Australia to lift the ban on the device's sale just in time for Christmas shopping.

As proof that the device will finally be legally sold in Australia, Samsung entered into an agreement with ACP Magazines to embed its Magshop digital newsstand application on the Galaxy 10.1 Tab.

With the apps, owners of the device would have a large number of Australian magazines in the app marketplace and digital versions of over 50 titles ranging from fashion, to celebrity, motoring, sport, food and lifestyle.

It would also allow users to download the latest issue or subscribe to some of Australia's largest magazines up to 30 per cent off on retail price of the print edition.

Among these titles are CLEO, Top Gear, Dolly, NW, Shop 'Til You Drop and Rugby League Week.

"The placement of our Magshop app preloaded onto Samsung tablets means that we can give audiences the choices they require around how they consume our magazines. This is the latest important step in our digital distribution strategy and we are pleased to be partnering with Samsung on such a talked-about tablet. It once again shows that ACP is leading the way in the digital media space," ACP Magazines Digital Director Carl Hammerschmidt said in a statement.

Samsung initially planned to launch the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia on Sept. 12, but Apple managed to block its entry as part of the global legal battles between the two tech firms.

Gizmondo said the 16GB Wi-Fi version would be sold for $579, while the 16GB 3G Galaxy Tab would have a tag price of $729. However, a Samsung spokesman did not confirm the price Gizmondo quoted prices.
