Hybrid devices are gradually gaining popularity and they have their own niche in the smartphone market. They became popular due to the advantages of fusing two devices in one and users get all the extra perks compared to owning a regular smartphone.
Business persons and professionals are delighted with the inception of these devices for business-related transactions and activities. According to them, they no longer have to bring an extra device (tablet or laptop) in order to get some work done.
Below is the comparison of the two hybrid devices. Which one should you get?
Screen Display - Asus Padfone will sport a 4.3 inch screen display compared to the rumored gigantic 5.5 inch screen display. Samsung's larger screen is good for movie lovers who want to watch movies on the go. However, the bigger is not always the better. Despite its huge size, Samsung's resolution is quite grainy compared to the retina display of iPhone. We just have to see how Asus will fare in this aspect.
Operating System - Asus Padfone will be powered by Google's Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Galaxy Note 2, on the other hand, is rumored to be equipped with Android's latest mobile software Jelly Bean.
Processor - Asus Padfone will have a dual-core Snapdragon S4 8260A running at 1.5GHz; however, it will be beaten by Samsung Galaxy Note 2's fast processor - quad core Exynos processor clocked at 1.6GHz.
Storage - Asus Padfone includes 32GB storage and a microSD slot. However, Galaxy Note 2 is rumored to have 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variant with microSD slot up to 32GB.
Camera - Asus Padfone will be equipped with 8 megapixel camera, which is at par with Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 4S' cameras. However, Galaxy Note 2 is speculated to have a 12MP shooter, which is similar to having a DSLR in your phone.
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is a clear winner in this battle if all of the rumored features are proven to be true. However, there is no official announcement from Samsung even about the release date of the device. Asus Padfone, on the other hand, will be available on Harvey Norman on 14 August for AU$999.
