Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Release Date in US Soon; To Take Away S-Pen Stylus?
A new report surfaced on the internet that suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will have a demo in the US.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with a 5.9-inch screen and will be demoed to the execs of AT&T this very week. According to online publication Korea Times, the executive of AT&T are going to meet execs from Samsung in Seoul to talk about the carrier's promotion of the upcoming Galaxy Note 3.
It seems that the AT&T officials will get to see a Galaxy Note mockup, as well. We also have a few details about what the device will have under the hood. Except for the already mentioned 5.9inch OLED screen that will have a full HD resolution, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will be powered by the same processor that underpins the Galaxy S4, namely the Exynos 5 Octa, and will have support for LTE connectivity service among other functions which are not set in stone yet, as the two parties are still talking about what they should be.
Korea Times claims that the information is accurate and was received from an official of one of Samsung's components supplier. However, the source is anonymous, so we don't have to believe everything. The same publication says that it will be actually a different device, but that is not meant to be a flagship like the Galaxy Note 3.
Korea Times notes that Samsung is working on a 6.3-inch phablet that is expected to be ready in the first half of 2013 and that will probably be released next summer. Also, the new phablet will be cheaper than the Galaxy Note 3, thus the boasted hardware will not be that impressive.
Another rumour surrounding the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is that it will be ditching its trademark S-Pen stylus. Phones Review reports that there is a possibility that the S-Pen stylus feature may be dropped from Samsung's rumoured upcoming Galaxy Note 3 model.
The website reports that the reason for this may be that the AirView feature, which is included on the Galaxy Note 2 and the recently unveiled Galaxy S4 allows use of the stylus pen above the screen without actually touching it. This will then carry out tasks such as enlarging thumbnail images and video preview variety of media file. Apparently, this feature has been developed to the point where an S-Pen is not required for simply by using your finger to instead.
However, it is also suggested that S-Pen stylus will indeed be incorporated into the Galaxy Note 3. Furthermore, we recently reported that Samsung purchased a large share of a stylus manufacturing company in Japan, which would indicate that Samsung still has plans to utilise stylus pens in its future devices.
Samsung now dominates in the phablet niche with virtually zero competition thanks to its Galaxy Note handsets, which is set apart by their larger than average touch screens and of course the S-Pen stylus which is a trademark of the range.
