At the IFA Berlin, smartwatches are not the only devices that made headlines. The event was also a haven for those looking for new phablets that will come out of the market.

A favorite for both the smartwatch and the phablet segment is Samsung, which has finally revealed its Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear some days prior to the IFA Berlin event.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has achieved a design wherein it has allowed for a bigger screen at 5.7 inches without adding to the dimensions of its previous design. As for the screen, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 opted for an AMOLED display, which does may not have taken into consideration outdoor visibility compared to other contenders, reports Phone Arena.

Its Stylus Pen has never disappointed and has clearly added some more weight due to the new features attached to the component. As far as camera features are concerned, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is always on the road to improvement with its 13-megapixel camera, as well as innovation, now that the device is rolling out with the 4K video recording.

What's more, Galaxy devices have been reported to be compatible with Samsung's newest device, the Samsung Galaxy Gear, which is the accessory smartwatch, also revealed at the event.

According to the report, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 can be purchased at a $299 price with a two-year contract with AT&T to ship later this year starting October 1. Or those who prefer Verizon can go with a $26.16 per month starting October 10. Pre-orders for both carriers are already ongoing today.

Another carrier that has been noted to carry the device is T-Mobile, with the launch date pegged at October 2.

Lenovo Vibe X: 5-inches of HD and high specs

There's a lot more to expect from Lenovo aside from laptops as the Chinese company pursues the lengths of big-screened phones with the introduction of the Lenovo Vibe X.

The smartphone (which can also be seen as a phablet given the size), sports a 5-inch 1080p display screen, Gorilla Glass 3 display with 440p per inch, and 1.5GHz quad-core MTK 6589T processor makes it one of the phablets with pretty sweet internal specs, compared to those in the market today.

Its OS may not be the latest with the Android 4.2, but it does compensate with a high-end camera specs: 13-megapixel rear camera sensor with BSI, 5-megapixe front camera, and an 84-degree wide-angle lens.

According to CNet, the only flaw with the device is the lag time when going through the home screens, but a fix for this in a later update may solve the response time.

Various reports have already pointed to a release of the device for only two major areas, Russia and specific parts of Asia, which means that the U.S. and the U.K. may miss out on this device.

Asus Fonepad Note 6: Samsung Galaxy Note 3's rival?

Potentially one of the bigger competitors that Samsung may be looking forward to with its Note series is the Asus Fonepad and MemoPad. Revealed at the IFA Berlin, the AsusFonepad Note 6 is your typical phablet with a stylus and a slightly bigger screen than the Note 3.

The 6-incher has a full HD display at 1080x1920 pixel and impresses with the Intel Atom dual-core proessor with Hyper-Threading technology, Android 4.2, and 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB variants with expandable memory, according to Gadgets NDTV.

For those who want a pretty decent camera specs won't be disappointed as the Asus Fonepad Note 6 also has 8-megapixel back camera with HD video recording and 1.2-megapixel front camera-pretty solid but still lower than the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

The Asus Fonepad Note 6 also has a 3200 mAh battery for longer talk time and video playback and it automatically has a protective flip cover case, which you can remove at your own discretion.

Other features of the device include an accelerometer, GPS, e-compass, and connectivity options such as Bluetooth, Wi-fi, EDGE, and 3G.

Asus will also be rolling out two kinds of tablets, the Memo Pad 8 and the Memo Pad 10. As the name suggests, the two will have an 8-inch and a 10-inch display size respectively, with the latter being a potentially standoff to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.

The upside to the Asus Memo Pad 10 is that it's a budget Android tablet, now being offered at $299 with a two-year contract via AT&T. The features of the Memo Pad 10 include a full-HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quadc0ore at 1.5GHz, 5-megapxel rear and 1.2-megapixel front, a whopping 6760 mAh battery, Android 4.2, and 16 GB of storage.

Ubergizmo reports that you can either get the tablet at the $299 contract price or opt for a $399 for its no strings attached price.
