Samsung Galaxy Note 6 to arrive with new Gear VR and one of the most awaited features
The rumour mill is guessing on the specifications and features of the upcoming Galaxy Note 6 phablet. Even though major smartphone brands have launched phones with USB Type-C port, Samsung is yet to release a flagship phone featuring the new port. Rumours suggest that the Note 6 will be featuring a USB Type-C port.
According to Sam Mobile, even though USB Type-C is set to arrive on Galaxy Note 6, there is no confirmation on the USB protocol that it will support. It is unclear whether the USB Type-C will support the new USB 3.1 standard or the older one. The USB Type-C with USB 3.1 standard can support quick charging, video signals through HDMI or Display Port and fast data transfer speeds.
Samsung was heavily pegged to include the USB Type-C feature on Galaxy S7, but the South Korean company launched the smartphone with old microUSB 2.0 port. The Samsung Gear VR, the virtual reality headset from the company, can be connected to the compatible Samsung smartphones like Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge through microUSB.
If the Galaxy Note 6 is launched with USB Type-C, Samsung will have to launch a newer edition Gear VR that will support USB Type-C connectivity. However, the rumour mill is silent on an upgraded version of Gear VR headset.
The Galaxy Note 6 is expected to feature a camera similar to the one present on Galaxy S7. The 12 MP rear camera of the Galaxy S7 is equipped with a f/1.7 aperture lens, phase detection autofocus and optical image stabilization. Samsung is speculated to improve the camera prowess of Note 6 by adding infrared autofocus feature to it, Android Geeks reported.
Some of the other rumoured features of Galaxy Note 6 include dust and water resistant chassis, 5.8-inch Quad HD screen, Snapdragon 823 SoC, 6 GB of RAM, iris scanner, and 4000 mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy Note 6 release date is speculated in the third quarter this year.
