Due to iteration issues of devices not compatible to every Android version, some Samsung Galaxy handsets will remain to run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and possibly not reach the upcoming Android 4.3 version.

The South Korean tech giant, Samsung is polishing firmware updates of Android Jelly Bean for several devices and some of their top smart phones few years ago will stay on Android 4.2.2.

It seems like hardware would be the main issue of these Galaxy devices for having no chance to reach Android 4.3 Jelly Bean unless Google sends out something Samsung could use to make them compatible. Here is the list of devices staying on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and with planned upgrades for this year:

  • Galaxy Grand GT-I9080
  • Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082
  • Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160
  • Galaxy S3 mini GT-I8190
  • Galaxy Beam GT-I8350
  • Galaxy Express GT-I8730
  • Galaxy S Advance GT-I9070
  • Galaxy S2 GT-I9100
  • Galaxy S2 Plus GT-I9105
  • Galaxy Premier GT-I9260
  • Galaxy Note GT-N7000
  • Galaxy Young GT-S6310
  • Galaxy Young DUOS GT-S6312
  • Galaxy Fame GT-S6810
  • Galaxy X Cover 2 GT-S7710

As of now, Samsung hasn't released the finalised set of their Galaxy smartphones locked on both Android 4.1 and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, so if you own any of the following Galaxy devices on the list, expect to receive your Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean official update from Samsung. You can also use custom ROMs as an alternative since Android 4.2.2 will likely to be the last update possible.

Unless custom ROM developers can get their hands quickly on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, some of the Galaxy devices on the list might have a chance on getting the upcoming "ultimate Jelly Bean."
