Samsung Galaxy S3, Asus PadFone 2 Plunge into Android Battle Royale
Taipei hardware manufacturer Asus is about to launch its latest device - Asus PadFone 2. This new smartphone will battle against other mobile devices that are currently in the tech market.
Asus is considered as an underdog in the market. However, it gained recognition from making Google's latest tablet. Asus is a competitor to watch out for.
Its new hybrid device of the company boasts a larger 4.7-inch screen with a 1280 x 720 pixel display and also upgrades its processor to a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm. It also has 1GB of RAM and 13MP camera. It is also believed that the device will have Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Early this year, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S3, which proved to be a powerful smartphone and easily gained popularity. The device boasts some of its amazing features such as a huge screen display, 4G/LTE connectivity, NFC support through S Beam. Below is the comparison of the two devices based on preliminary reports on the Asus device.
Screen Display - The Samsung Galaxy S3 sports a 4.8 inch Super Amoled screen display. The phone handset itself has a 4.7-inch Super IPS+ capacitive multitouch display with a 1280x720 pixel resolution and a pixel density of 312ppi. The Asus PadFone 2, on the other hand, has been reported to have a display of 10.1 inch with 1280x800 pixel resolution.
Storage - Samsung Galaxy S3 has 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants for onboard space and has a MicroSD slot up to 32GB. Asus PadFone 2 has the same setup of internal storage but with a MicroSD slot up to 32GB.
Processor - Samsung Galaxy S3 is equipped with 1.4 GHz quad core Exynos processor with 1GB of dual-channel RAM. The ASUS Padfone 2 is powered by Qualcomm's S4 (Series 4) Pro quad core processor clocked at 1.5GHz.
Operating System - Both devices were released with Android's Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, which can be later upgraded to the latest Android v4.1 Jelly Bean.
Camera - Samsung Galaxy 3's 8MP rear camera and 1.9 MP front camera will go against Asus PadFone 2's 13MP shooter and 1.2 MP front camera.
Samsung Galaxy S3 is available with various carriers. No word yet from Asus when the device is finally available to the public.
