Samsung Galaxy S3 owners may want to think twice in installing the latest Jelly Bean update in their devices as reports claimed that mobile software upgrade is taking a toll on the battery life of the smartphone.

In a report of Auto-o-Mobile, a fully-charged Samsung Galaxy S3 with Android's Ice Cream Sandwich had gone down to around 98% overnight, when it was checked the next morning at 7 AM. Then, a Samsung Galaxy S3 with Jelly Bean already installed had gone down to 89% in the morning.

It is speculated that installing the Jelly Bean update caused the fast depletion of the battery life of the device. Many owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 saying that once installed, the device's battery drained faster, even when left doing nothing overnight.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is already packed with a powerful battery with 2100mAh capacity.

However, Samsung seemed to be unaware of this problem. Thus, the tech company has no official comment on the issue.

Below are the five ways on how you can maximize the battery life of your Samsung Galaxy S3:

  1. Enable Power Saving Option - You can turn on the power saving option of Samsung Galaxy S3. Enabling this mode will limit the maximum CPU speed, change background colors throughout your system apps and lower the screen power.
  2. Turn Off Google Now - Another way of saving the battery life of the GS3 is to turn off the Google Now option of the device. It seems that Google Now and the services could be checking more often with Jelly Bean.
  3. Dim the Lights - You may want to head over to Settings>Display>Brightness and lower it a bit.
  4. Turn Off WiFi/Bluetooth - You can also turn off the WiFi and Bluetooth of the device when they are not in used. These options eat a big chunk in your battery life.
  5. Avoid Using Interactive Wallpapers and Fancy Ringtones - Some owners may not be aware but fancy wallpapers and ringtones can eat the juice in your battery.
